This low-cost 90 minute workshop provides an overview of mental, verbal, and physical self-defense techniques designed to help kids defend themselves from threats and move through the world with less fear and more confidence. We use the Five Fingers of Self-Defense to teach kids how to stay safe and get help in both emergency and everyday situations, and how to protect both their bodies and their self-esteem from victimization by bullies or unsafe adults. Our goal is to reduce both the prevalence and the harm of violence. Great for back-to-school, especially for kids who are changing schools or otherwise encountering new situations, or kids who are shy or have trouble speaking up for themselves. Open to kids of all genders ages 8-11.
